I earned said Master of Arts Degree in Flute Performance from the University of Iowa and, prior to that, spent 5 years studying flute and business at Central Michigan University. I have over 10 years teaching experience, and while maintaining my private flute studio, I am a freelance musician and performing member with the Columbia Flute Choir where I performs on a Double Contrabass Flute *have you ever heard of a Double Contrabass Flute before?!?!* While earning my Master’s Degree, I held both the Adjunct Flute Professorship at Culver-Stockton College in Missouri and the Flute Teaching Assistantship at the University of Iowa. During my tenure at both Iowa and Missouri, I taught private flute instruction, seminar classes, scale and technique classes, and woodwind techniques classes. Throughout my flute career, I have taken private lessons and participated in countless master classes with some pretty incredible artists (a little more on that in a second…), but my primary instructors include Nicole Esposito (University of Iowa), Joanna Cowan White (Central Michigan University), Jaimie Wagner (University of Windsor), Tess Miller (Wings Unfolded, LLC), and Jeffery Zook (Detroit Symphony Orchestra). I met my Military/musician husband in 2005 while a student at Central Michigan University *Fire Up Chips!* I am a mother to two wonderfully smart and willful young girls who I am sure will raise heck one day I am a mother to two feisty and troublesome cats who double as my Academy Mascots I was born a Disney nerd, raised a Disney nerd, and will die a Disney nerd I love and own my crazy, curly, and oftentimes very frizzy hair I love shoes and own WAY too many pair I love wearing bright and funky colored glasses I am a fierce advocate for my family and friends I believe life is too short to be doing anything that makes us unhappy… Which is why I try not to take myself too seriously, I try to soak in every single moment and try to be as present as I can be with those who matter most (put down the phones people!!!), And I make sure to have fun. My mom is my best friend and I had to call her to help me flesh out this list :-)
